A web design agency for Dutch companies, run from Casablanca

RAIN is a senior design and development studio in Casablanca, Morocco, working remotely with Dutch companies. We have shipped work since 2014, we are six people across three time zones, and the same small team handles brand, UI design and development, so nothing is lost in a hand-off between a design agency and a build agency.

We are not an Amsterdam studio and we do not claim to be. What we bring to Dutch buyers is senior design on Amsterdam time (the same clock in winter, one hour behind in summer), English-first communication, and published prices.

Built for companies that sell beyond the Netherlands

The Netherlands is one of Europe’s most export-driven economies, and many Dutch companies market to buyers in Germany, Belgium, the UK and further afield before they market at home. Logistics firms around Rotterdam, agri-food and horticulture exporters, B2B manufacturers, and Amsterdam or Eindhoven tech companies often need the same thing: a website whose English version is the main one, with other languages added cleanly.

That is where we fit. We work in English and French, and we design the site so each language is a first-class version rather than a bolted-on plug-in:

  • Language routing with one URL tree per language and self-referencing canonicals.
  • hreflang annotations on every page, plus language alternates in the XML sitemap.
  • Translated metadata, social cards and structured data, not only body text.
  • A content model your translators can work in without touching templates.

We do not write Dutch or German copy. Your team or translator supplies it; we make sure it slots in without breaking layouts or SEO.

International buyers increasingly start their research in AI assistants as well as search engines. Clean language versions, consistent structured data and a clear page for each service and market make it far easier for those systems to understand which page answers which question, in which language.

What every RAIN website ships with

As a custom web design agency, we do not start from a theme. Every site is designed in Figma and built by hand, and every build includes the same technical baseline:

  • Astro static output: plain HTML first, JavaScript only where it earns its place.
  • Core Web Vitals (LCP, INP, CLS) treated as a design constraint, not an afterthought.
  • JSON-LD structured data for the organization, services, FAQs and breadcrumbs.
  • llms.txt, llms-full.txt and an AI-crawler-friendly robots.txt, so AI answer engines can read and cite the site. Our generative engine optimization service builds on this.
  • Accessibility to WCAG 2.2 AA as a working standard, with contrast checked in light and dark themes. The European Accessibility Act has applied to many consumer-facing digital services since June 2025, which has pushed accessibility up many Dutch buyers’ checklists.

Moving from WordPress or Webflow

Many Dutch companies come to us with a site that has outgrown its platform: a WordPress install with dozens of plug-ins, or a Webflow project that became hard to translate and slow to load. A rebuild in Astro keeps your content, but changes how it is stored and served. We map every existing URL, set 301 redirects for anything that moves, carry metadata and structured data across, and check analytics before the switch. Content can live in Markdown files in your repository or in a headless CMS your marketing team edits, so publishing a new page or a new language version does not require a developer.

Web design agency options in the Netherlands

Most Dutch buyers compare a handful of supplier types. Here is where each fits best.

Criterion Amsterdam or Rotterdam agency Freelance designer Template studio (WordPress, Webflow) RAIN (Casablanca, remote)
In-person meetings Easy Often easy Varies By arrangement only
Working hours Same Same Varies Same clock in winter, 1 h behind in summer
Dutch copywriting Usually yes Often yes Rarely No: English and French; Dutch from your translator
Design and build in one team Often Rarely at depth Template-led design Yes, brand to code
Multilingual SEO setup Varies Varies Plug-in based Built into the architecture
AI-search readiness (JSON-LD, llms.txt) Varies Rare Plug-in based Standard on every build
Pricing visibility Usually quote-only Day rate Package prices Published: from $10,000

If you need a Dutch-speaking agency for a Dutch-only audience, a local studio is the better choice. If your site’s main job is to win buyers abroad in English, we are worth a call.

Proof: three sites we designed and built

  • Origin Element, for a London AI integration consultancy: an Astro 7 site with 42 indexable pages, including 36 SEO and GEO content pages (8 services, 8 regions, 8 industries and 12 guides), build-time social cards for every page, llms.txt generated from the site’s own data, and a Lighthouse budget enforced in CI.
  • 2RCLOUD, a bilingual English and French Astro site for a senior Salesforce tech lead serving European enterprises, with hreflang-annotated routing, zero runtime JavaScript by default and Person plus FAQPage JSON-LD.
  • MField & Data Insight, an English-language B2B site for a Casablanca research agency selling across the Middle East and Africa: 33 static pages, an interactive fieldwork cost and timeline calculator, a keyboard-accessible region map and a 16-document policy hub, with WCAG AA light and dark themes.

None of these clients is Dutch. Each shows a company using its website to sell across borders, which is the job most Dutch clients bring us.

How a website project runs

  1. Free 15-minute call to understand your markets, languages and deadline.
  2. Scope and proposal: pages, languages, integrations, milestones and a fixed price.
  3. Design in Figma: key templates first, reviewed in a shared file and on a call.
  4. Build in Astro, with a preview link updated as pages land and a Loom walkthrough every Friday.
  5. Launch: redirects, sitemap, structured data and analytics checked before DNS moves.

A typical marketing site takes 3 to 6 weeks from kick-off, and kick-off happens within 3 to 5 business days of signature. Because we share your working day, design reviews happen live on a call during Dutch office hours, and written feedback in the shared Figma file or Slack channel is answered the same day. After launch, ongoing design and development can continue on a monthly retainer, or as small fixed-scope pieces when you add a market or a campaign.

Logistics: language, contracts and payment

  • Language: English and French for all communication and documents.
  • Ownership: code, design files and content belong to you, deployed to your own hosting and repository if you prefer.
  • Data protection: marketing sites usually process little personal data. Where forms or analytics are involved, we keep collection minimal and host in the EU on request; GDPR transfers to Morocco are covered by Standard Contractual Clauses where needed.
  • Payment: prices in USD, invoices in EUR on request, by milestone.

Frequently asked questions

No. RAIN Design Studio is based in Casablanca, Morocco, and works with Dutch companies remotely. We have no office, address or staff in Amsterdam, Rotterdam or elsewhere in the Netherlands. Kick-off workshops in your office can be arranged; Casablanca is under four hours from Amsterdam by direct flight.

We build the multilingual structure, including language routing, hreflang annotations, translated metadata and per-language sitemaps, but we do not write Dutch copy. English copy we can write or edit with you; Dutch, German or French versions come from your team or translator and drop into the same templates.

Fixed-scope projects start at $10,000, and a typical marketing site takes 3 to 6 weeks. For ongoing design and development, the Growth retainer is $7,500 per month for 45 hours and the Scale retainer is $15,000 per month for 100 hours. Prices are set in USD; EUR invoices are available on request.

We design and build to WCAG 2.2 AA as a working standard: semantic HTML, keyboard access, visible focus states and color contrast checked in both light and dark themes. The European Accessibility Act has applied to many consumer-facing digital services since June 2025; whether it covers your site is a question for your advisers, and we build to the standard they set.

Astro outputs static HTML, so pages load fast, are easy for search and AI crawlers to read, and have no plugin stack to patch. Content can still live in Markdown files or a headless CMS your team edits. If you need WordPress for a specific reason, we will tell you honestly whether we are the right fit.

You do. Code, design files and content are yours under the contract, and we can deploy to your own hosting, repository and domain accounts from the start.

Let's build what's next.
