Mobile App Development for Dubai Companies, Backed by a Real Platform
Mobile app development for Dubai companies works best when the app sits on a real platform, not a standalone front end. RAIN Design Studio, a senior studio in Casablanca, Morocco, working remotely with Dubai businesses, builds PWAs and Capacitor iOS/Android apps on Laravel and Vue back ends, the same approach we ship in our own RIVER ERP. Projects start at $10,000.

Mobile app development for Dubai, done the platform way
Most failed app projects in Dubai do not fail on the screens. They fail behind them: no proper admin, a fragile API, payments and stock that do not reconcile, and an agency that disappears after launch.
RAIN Design Studio is a senior design and development studio in Casablanca, Morocco, working remotely with Dubai companies. We treat mobile app development as one part of a product: the back end, the admin, the web app and the mobile app are designed and built together by the same small team. We have no office in Dubai. We do have a working method and our own products that show it.
What kind of apps we build
We are clear about our scope, because the Dubai market is full of app developers promising everything:
- Progressive Web Apps (PWAs): installable from a link, work offline for key screens, update instantly without store review.
- Capacitor apps for iOS and Android: the same Vue 3 or React codebase wrapped as native projects, with access to camera, haptics, sharing, status bar and keyboard APIs.
- Desktop apps with Tauri v2 for macOS, Windows and Linux, when staff need a native window on the office machine.
- The back end behind them: Laravel or Node APIs, admin panels, payments, roles and reporting.
What we do not claim: a portfolio of fully native Swift or Kotlin apps, or games. If your product needs that, hire a native specialist.
Proof: how RIVER ERP ships on every screen
RIVER ERP, our in-house business platform, is the clearest example of our app work. One Laravel 13 and Vue 3 codebase is delivered as:
- A web app, with an OpenAPI 3.1 specification for its REST API.
- A PWA, with a service worker and app shortcuts straight to the shop-floor workshop board and the point of sale.
- Capacitor 8 projects for iOS and Android, using camera, haptics, share, splash and keyboard plugins. Barcode scanning works with the phone camera or a USB or Bluetooth scanner.
- A Tauri v2 desktop shell whose CI produces installers for six targets: macOS, Windows and Linux, each on ARM64 and x64.
The interface runs in 10 languages, with French, English and Arabic complete, and dark and light themes with WCAG AA contrast checked by tests. That is the same structure we propose to Dubai clients: one product, several delivery surfaces, no parallel codebases drifting apart.
Apps backed by a real platform
An app is only as good as the system it talks to. Our other products show the back-end side:
- ERPStore: a self-hosted subscription billing and CRM platform with 126 routes, 76 REST API endpoints, 10 payment methods and a client portal in 32 languages.
- RAIN Store: an e-commerce admin platform with 58 modules covering products, orders, customers, B2B, subscriptions, coupons and affiliates, the kind of engine an e-commerce app in Dubai needs behind it.
- Enterprise CRM: a B2B pipeline product built on React, NestJS and GraphQL.
For a Dubai retailer, this means the app, the online store and the stock system share one source of truth. For a service company, it means the field app writes into the same CRM and invoicing your office uses.
PWA, cross-platform or fully native: an honest comparison
| Approach | One codebase with web | Store presence | Device access | Typical fit in Dubai | Do we build it? |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| PWA | Yes | No (installed from a link) | Camera, location, offline cache; more limited on iOS | Staff tools, B2B portals, loyalty for repeat customers | Yes |
| Capacitor (iOS + Android) | Yes | App Store and Google Play | Most device APIs through plugins | E-commerce, booking, field sales, member apps | Yes |
| Tauri desktop | Yes | Direct download or internal distribution | File system, native window | Back-office, POS stations, warehouse PCs | Yes |
| Fully native (Swift / Kotlin) | No, separate apps | App Store and Google Play | Everything, highest performance | Games, AR, heavy media, complex background work | No, we refer you |
For most business apps in Dubai, such as ordering, booking, field service, member and loyalty apps, Capacitor plus a solid back end gives you store apps, a web version and an admin from one budget.
How we compare with app developers in Dubai
Dubai buyers usually compare three kinds of supplier: local agencies with sales teams in the city, large offshore shops quoting low day rates, and freelancers. Each can be right. Our differences are narrow and specific:
- Senior team only, with one lead per project and human sign-off on every merge and design.
- Design and engineering together: UI/UX in Figma, then the same team builds it. See our UI/UX design approach.
- Back end included: we build and run our own SaaS products, so APIs, billing and admin are not afterthoughts. Our SaaS development page covers that work.
- Published prices: projects from $10,000; retainers at $7,500 or $15,000 per month.
What a local agency offers that we do not: walk-in meetings any day of the week. If that matters most to you, choose local.
Arabic, data and store logistics
- Arabic and RTL are designed per project: mirrored navigation, Arabic type pairing and bilingual content planned from the wireframes. RIVER ERP ships an Arabic UI and Arabic documents; we do not pretend every past project was bilingual.
- Data protection: the UAE has a federal Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL), and free zones such as DIFC and ADGM have their own rules. We can host the back end where you choose; your counsel confirms which regime applies.
- Store accounts and ownership: Apple and Google developer accounts, repositories and cloud accounts sit in your company’s name. Code ownership is written into the contract.
- Payments: the gateway is chosen per project; ERPStore alone integrates ten payment methods, so we know the reconciliation side.
Working hours and engagement
Casablanca is three hours behind Dubai for most of the year, four during the Ramadan period when Morocco moves to GMT. The UAE and Morocco both work Monday to Friday, so you get a shared afternoon every working day, a shared Slack channel and a Loom demo of the app every Friday.
Typical engagements:
- Free 15-minute call about users, platforms and deadlines.
- Scoping and a written proposal: PWA, Capacitor or both, plus back end and admin.
- Design sprint, then builds you can install on your phone from the first weeks.
- Store submission, launch and a retainer for releases if you need one.

Frequently asked questions
We build cross-platform apps: installable PWAs and Capacitor apps for iOS and Android that share one Vue or React codebase with the web product. That is how RIVER ERP's mobile projects are built. If your app depends on heavy native work such as 3D games, advanced AR or long-running background processing, a specialist Swift and Kotlin team is the better choice, and we will say so.
Yes, a Capacitor app is packaged as a normal iOS and Android project and goes through the usual store review. We prepare the builds, store assets and submission checklist. The developer accounts should be in your company's name so you own the listings.
No. RAIN Design Studio is based in Casablanca, Morocco, and works with Dubai companies remotely. Casablanca is three hours behind the UAE for most of the year. Workshops in Dubai can be arranged for larger projects.
Fixed-scope projects start at $10,000. Apps that need a new back end, admin panel and integrations usually fall into our 8–16-week custom platform range. Ongoing work runs on retainers of $7,500 or $15,000 per month. Prices are in USD, invoiced in AED on request.
Yes, but Arabic and right-to-left layout are designed per project, not switched on at the end. We plan mirrored layouts, Arabic typography and bilingual content from the first wireframes. In RIVER ERP we ship a complete Arabic interface bundle and Arabic business documents.
If your users are mostly staff, partners or repeat customers who can install from a link, a PWA is the fastest and cheapest start. If you need store discovery, push notifications on iOS at scale or deeper device features, go to Capacitor. Because both share one codebase, moving from one to the other does not mean a rewrite.
